Girls Athletics

 

A grantee of LA84 Foundation, YWCA Santa Monica / Westside's Girls Athletics Program comprises year-round basketball and volleyball leagues and clinics.  Serving over 300 girls between the ages of 5 and 14 annually, the Girls Athletics Program gives girls the opportunity to learn how to collaborate with team members - working through the process of playing basketball and volleyball - to find their own personal level of motivation and excellence in a safe, healthy environment of respect and encouragement.  Practices are held weekly with league and clinic games taking place on weekends.

 

YWCA Basketball Clinic YWCA Basketball Clinic

 

Girls Winter Basketball League, January 9 to March 13, 2010.  Games are played on Saturdays at the YWCA, with a one-hour weekday practice per team.  The cost is $140 per player.  Skill levels are evaluated prior to team placement.  Age divisions are as follows:

  • Division 1: ages 7-8
  • Division 2: ages 9-10
  • Division 3: ages 11-12
  • Division 4: ages 13-14

Each age division plays each hour from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

 

Spring Pee-Wee Basketball League (for boys and girls ages 5 and 6), every Saturday for seven weeks beginning Saturday, March 20, 2010.  Games at 11:00 am, 12 noon and possibly 1:00 pm. $130 per player. The league is instructional and focuses on basketball FUNdamentals.

 

Spring Boys Basketball League (for boys ages 7 to 10), every Saturday for eight weeks beginning Saturday, April 3, 2010.  Each age division (7/8 and 9/10) plays each hour from 2:00 to 6:00 pm.  The league is instructional with different age categories.  Competitive play, knowledgeable referrees, play-offs and championship games!
