Women and Girls Programs

The YWCA Santa Monica / Westside offers a variety of programs for women and girls that support our Mission, Strengthened by diversity, the YWCA empowers women and girls by creating opportunities for growth and leadership:

  • Encore Cancer survivors are offered rehabilitative pool therapy, peer support and receive referrals to medical and social service providers.
  • Transitional Housing and Education – Young women ages 18 to 22 are offered residence for up to 2 1/2 years, during which time they are given meals, support services, and are guided toward academic and vocational training.
  • Girl House Art Project – Girls ages 11 to 13 explore gender issues and express their findings through art.
  • Girls Athletics – Girls ages 7 to 14 join basketball and volleyball leagues and clinics designed to develop confidence, self-esteem, and physical fitness.
  • Girls In Action Leadership – Middle school girls participate in a leadership and empowerment program, which focuses on six core areas of social and academic development and includes computer literacy courses (TECHgyrls) and an integrated dance program (Youth In Motion).
  • Libbie Agran Financial Literacy Center – Women and girls attend conferences, seminars, and workshops on a variety of topics designed to help them improve their financial futures.
  • Place for Parents – Families participate in parent support groups, Toddler/Infant & Me and transitional daycare programs designed to strengthen child rearing practices and relationships between parents and children.
