The YWCA Santa Monica / Westside Board of Directors comprises corporate and community leaders who are dedicated to the Mission of the organization and committed to achieving its goals through guided service delivery and implementation of the YWCA Strategic Plan.  As volunteers, each member provides professional knowledge, hands-on assistance, community contacts, and financial support by serving on Board committees, participating in special events, and assisting with the launch of new programs.

Mary Tower, M.S.W., L.C.S.W., spent 20 years as a social worker providing mental health services to adults, followed by 23 years as the president of a charitable foundation, developing programs and services for foundation clients as well as community social service organizations. She recently retired.

Lois Slavkin, M.A., holds an undergraduate degree in English Literature and Master's degree in Urban Planning from UCLA. Selected professional positions include: Co-founder, L.A. Educational Partnership; Assistant Research Professor, USC; Founder and Executive Director, USC Center to Advance Pre-College Science Education; Founder, Washington Area Women's Foundation; Education Consultant, National Science Foundation; and Strategic Planning Consultant, National Institutes of Health.
